Calling all private credit managers

Two years ago, the Alternative Credit Council (ACC) embarked on a research project to analyse the private credit industry and highlight the sector’s growing role in providing much needed finance. Last week, the ACC launched the third iteration of its Private Credit Survey alongside Dechert. The survey will help highlight the evolving role of alternative lenders in capital market financing.

The results of the survey will be published in the ‘Financing the Economy 2017’ paper this summer. Previous papers have been extremely well-received by policymakers, the professional public and media at large. This has helped the ACC make great strides in its advocacy efforts in the private credit space by providing thought leadership on the development of the industry and helping to dispel myths about the role of market-based finance.

Regulators globally are increasingly turning their attention to the private credit industry. Several European countries have recently established loan origination frameworks and both the European Systemic Risk Board and Basel Committee on Banking Supervision are considering how “shadow banking” or market-based finance is developing within the financial system.  The ACC continues to work closely with authorities to ensure their proposals are supportive of the important role private credit can play in providing finance to the wider economy.

This survey presents a significant opportunity for the ACC to help the industry expand in a sustainable manner and develop new markets. I hope you will complete the survey and support the ACC’s efforts on your behalf.   To complete the survey, please click here or contact my colleague Jordan Large at [email protected].

Additionally, as part of our ongoing activity, the ACC and the AFG are hosting a workshop on 3 April to discuss the new French loan origination rules and how they compare with existing regimes in other countries. The workshop is open to all AIMA and ACC members and will be held at the Westin Vendome, Paris. More details can be found here.

Best regards,

Jiří
