Press release: AIMA and ITN Productions Industry News announce new programme “Holding Strong: Alternative Investments in a Volatile Market”

Published: 06 October 2020

LAUNCH: summer 2021

The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) and ITN Productions Industry News are co-producing “Holding Strong: Alternative Investments in a Volatile Market” a news-style programme to raise awareness of alternative investments and how the sector is facilitating the economy’s recovery.

The immediate effect of the 2020 global pandemic on markets was colossal with the second biggest one-day fall in the FTSE 100’s history and interest rates cut to a record low.  The effects of the pandemic are likely to reverberate around the global economy and the world’s stock markets for years to come.

Amid a series of significant market disruptions, the alternative investment industry has doubled in size over the past ten years. The hedge fund industry has proven its ability to manage risk and volatility while still producing above market returns for investors. The benefits of investing in private markets are increasingly clear across the world – providing borrowers with a much-needed alternative to traditional lending, offering investors the opportunity to invest in assets with differentiated risk-return profiles and supporting policy-makers efforts to foster a more resilient financial system.

“Holding Strong: Alternative Investments in a Volatile Market” will show how and why hedge funds and the alternative investment sector have performed during the coronavirus crisis, highlighting their value to investors, to markets and to the broader global economy.

The programme will examine the latest innovations and technologies that are driving the alternative investment industry  forward, exploring how ESG and socially responsible investments are key areas for the future while addressing how the industry is fostering diversity and inclusion to attract the next generation of talent.

Anchored by ITN Productions Industry News presenter, the programme will combine interviews with the industry’s leading figures, news-style reports and sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations, thought-leaders and industry innovators.  The programme will launch at a flagship investor conference in Summer 2021.
