The PARAS’ 10 Team Rise to the challenge for HFC (UK)

• A group of 50 alternative investment professionals raised more than £100,000 in support of Help For Children’s mission to prevent and treat child abuse
• They have collectively sacrificed over 5,000 hours for an intense six-month training regime to prepare for the Parachute Regiment’s famous 10 Mile March
• The challenge represents HFC (UK)’s largest and most ambitious fund-raising mission

50 determined volunteers from the alternative investment sector have raised a record-breaking sum for Help for Children (HFC) (UK) taking part in a strenuous military-style test of both fitness and willpower

The HFC PARAS’10 Challenge team completed a gruelling 10-mile endurance race carrying a 35lbs packs over tough terrain. The race conditions replicated the famous ‘10 Mile March’ that is the one of the hardest tests for Parachute Regiment recruits.

The race, which took place on 27 May 2023, was the culmination of over 5,000 hours of collective training over six months to prepare for this challenge.

Already nearly 1000 supporters, including family, friends and colleagues, have raised more than £100,000 so far which will go on to support HFC (UK) grantees in their efforts to help transform the lives of vulnerable young people who have been victims of abuse. 

Jack Inglis, HFC chair and CEO of the Alternative Investment Management Association, said: “I have enormous admiration and gratitude for all these participants in committing the time and effort to train and complete this gruelling challenge. It was an honour to be there, to cheer them on and see them finish. 

“Having previously completed an endurance event for HFC, I know only too well the physical and mental hardship they put themselves through. Thanks to this incredible fund raising, HFC are able to contribute to the prevention and treatment of many more children affected by abuse and neglect.”

Current grantees of HFC (UK) include Dandelion Time, a nature-based charity that works with children and their wider family to overcome issues and difficulties, along with Abianda, a social enterprise that work with young women and girls affected by criminal exploitation and violence.

Since launching in the US in 1998, Help for Children has invested more than $57 million to fight child maltreatment, transforming the lives of more than 1.1 million individuals. It now has additional chapters in the UK , Asia, the Cayman Islands, and Canada and has grantees around the world.
