Singapore announces new long-term work visas to boost its economic recovery and attract more foreign talent

Published: 08 September 2022

Singapore introduces new visa rules which include a five-year work pass for expats earning at least S$30,000 a month, with a provision that allows their dependents eligibility to seek employment in the country. Additionally, the duration for local job advertisements will be halved to 14 days for some Employment Passes (EPs), allowing foreign candidates to gain a competitive edge in the hiring process.

This positive development comes against the backdrop of AIMA engaging the Singapore authorities including the MAS on talent and EP-related issues over the past two years. Through various talent-related webinars and workgroups, AIMA has brought to light the latest challenges and opportunities faced. They include:

  1. APAC Webinar: SGTalent – All Things Talent
  2. APAC Webinar: StartUp Nation: Setting up Shop in Sunny Singapore

The new measures for Singapore’s work visa will take effect from 1 January 2023.
